It is a surprisingly difficult task to group various songs for guitar players into catagories such as easy or beginner. The reason being, is that all guitar players develop their skill levels at different rates. I have seen young kids who have only been playing for a year, sound like a rock guitar veteran.
Coming up with a list of easy guitar songs for beginners took me longer than I thought it would. If you are a rock fan then you will most likely appreciate this list of tunes. If you are a country or blues fan then these songs may be totally new to you.
I was playing this song earlier today and it reminded me of how easy it is to play. It is called Where Boys Fear To Tread, an old Smashing Pumpkins song. Or another simple one is Bad Religion by Godsmack. Or see if you can remember this one from a few years back, Boom by POD.
The 3 songs I just mentioned are relatively easy songs to play, if you are just starting to learn how to play guitar. If you are looking for something more challenging to tackle, you may want to try a Joe Satriani song or possibly Steve Vai.
You will have to put some serious time in the wood shed as they say, in order to pull of their lead lines. Speaking of lead lines, one thing I discovered recently and I find very hard to believe. Is that Joe Satriani’s distorted tone comes from a pedal. All these years I thought it was tube distortion from a tube amp.
Everytime I have ever tried a distortion pedal in the past, it always seemed to buzzy and fake sounding. I’m not sure how he gets it to sound so smooth and warm. Which reminds me, Joe recently came out with a signature guitar pedal called the Satchurator and from what I hear, it is pretty sweet sounding, you may want to check it out.
Joe also has a signature Wah pedal called the Big Bad Wah. If you have listened to any of Satch’s stuff then you know how great a wah tone he has. I haven’t had a chance to try it out myself but it is on my to do list.
Steve Vai another great lead player also released a distortion/overdrive pedal of his own called the Ibanex Jemini which is two pedals in one. One side is more of an overdrive pedal and the second side is a distortion pedal. Either of which will make you sound like Steve Vai unfortunately.
Which reminds me, I just found a new site online that offers free guitar lessons for beginners and intermediate players. If that sounds like you then make sure you take a second to check it out. The instructor isn’t too bad and the price is right.
